Creating Positive Habits and Daily Routines

Do you have any bad habits that you’d like to change to good ones?
I’ve been working on myself lately, trying to create good, useful habits
and replace bad ones with more constructive, positive ones.
Habits are things we do without thinking. We don’t stop to make a
decision, we just do them. What does your morning routine look like, for
example? Do you clean your teeth as soon as you get up, or do you have
breakfast first and then clean them?
My morning routine looks like this; I get up at 7 and go to the bathroom.
I wash my face and go to the kitchen where I drink a glass of water. Then
I sit on the sofa and meditate for 20 minutes. This helps to relax me and
set myself up for the day.
Then I make a good, strong cup of coffee and sit down at the table and
look at the journaling app on my phone. I use Day One for IOS. I take 5 or
ten minutes to write 3 things I’m thankful for, this could be the wonderful
coffee I’m drinking, or the sunlight that’s streaming through the window,
anything! I also write what would make today great. At the end of the day,
before I go to bed, I write what I could have done to make the day even
better.
Finally I look in my appointment diary to see what commitments or
appointments
I have during the day and, if there’s nothing urgent, I sit at my desk, open
my ‘to do’ list and start the day’s tasks.
It’s taken me a long time to put these morning habits in place, but it’s very
satisfying when you create new routines for yourself. Why don’t you try it?
