Marilyn Monroe

According to the website biographyonline.net, the most famous person of all time is Marilyn Monroe. But what do you know about her? And more importantly, what would you like to know?
Marilyn Monroe is not her real name. She was born Norma Jeane Mortenson in June 1926. Her father is unknown and her mother suffered from mental instability and she struggled to bring up her children. As a result, Marilyn had a traumatic childhood and spent time in orphanages and foster homes. This made her shy and reserved.
Marilyn got married to her next-door neighbour when she was only 16. The marriage wasn’t successful and it didn’t last long.
It was while working in a factory in California that she got her first big break. A photographer who was taking photos noticed her beauty and her face was soon on the cover of popular magazines.
Marilyn got divorced from her husband in 1946, changed her name and was soon staring in successful Hollywood movies.
She married baseball star Joe DiMaggio in 1954 and became one of the highest-paid movie stars of her time. She was nominated for Golden Globe Best Actress Award for Bus Stop in 1956. In 1959, she won a Golden Globe for her role in ‘Some Like It Hot‘.
Her marriage to DiMaggio didn’t last and she married writer and playwright Arthur Miller in 1956. In order to marry him, she changed her religion to Judaism.
In the 1950s and 60s, Marilyn suffered from bad health, depression and drug addiction. Her marriage to Arthur Miller broke down and she had affairs with Frank Sinatra, Yves Montand and other men. Nevertheless, she continued to be popular and in great demand. She was even invited to The White House to sing at President Kennedy’s birthday party.
Marilyn died from a drug overdose in 1962. She was only 36 years old.
