Changes from Brexit
Have you noticed the changes that have been happening in the UK since
Brexit was implemented back in January, 2021? We haven’t been hearing
much about it in the news lately, have we? Whether you were for or
against it, there's no denying that it has caused some significant
shifts in the way things are done in the UK.
First off, there's trade. Since leaving the EU, the UK has had to
renegotiate trade agreements with the EU and other countries. This has
meant changes to tariffs and regulations, which have had an impact on
various industries. Some businesses have been hit hard, while others
have really benefited from new opportunities.
Then there's immigration. The UK has introduced a new points-based
immigration system, which aims to prioritize skilled workers and
restrict low-skilled migration. This has meant that EU citizens no
longer have the automatic right to live and work in the UK, and must
apply for visas or residency permits. This has been a contentious issue,
with some people arguing that it will help to control immigration, while
others feel that it will hurt the economy and damage social cohesion.
Northern Ireland has also been affected by Brexit. You probably know
that Northern Ireland shares a land border with the Republic of Ireland,
which is an EU member state. To avoid a hard border, Northern Ireland
remains aligned with some EU regulations, which has led to some
disruption in trade and travel. This has been a complex issue, and there
is still much debate about how best to manage the situation.
Brexit has also had an impact on politics in the UK. The issue has
dominated political discourse for several years, and has caused some
shifts in the balance of power between different parties. The
Conservative Party, which supported Brexit, has remained in power, but
there have been some changes in the way that the party operates.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have tried to capitalize on public
dissatisfaction with the government's handling of Brexit.
Public opinion has been divided on Brexit, and this has not changed
since the implementation of the new regulations. Some people feel that
it has brought greater sovereignty and control over the country's
affairs, while others feel that it has damaged the UK's relationship
with Europe and made it more isolated. It's clear that Brexit will
continue to be a contentious issue for some time to come.
So there you have it, folks. These are just a few of the ways in which
the UK has changed since Brexit was implemented. Whatever your thoughts
on the issue, it's clear that it has had a significant impact on the
country and its people.
